PROGRAMME OVERVIEW

Diploma in Tahfiz wal Qiraat

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

• To produce Huffaz (“memorizers” of the Quran, male and female) who are skilful in the recitation and study of the Holy Quran so as to protect and preserve the sanctity of the Holy Quran.

• To develop Qurra’ (“reciters” of the Quran, male and female) who are proficient in the art of Quran recitation and possess authoritative knowledge in the science of Qiraat.

• To produce Du’at (“inviters” to Islam, male and female) and professional Imams who are able to guide and educate others, given their pursuit of deeper Quranic knowledge.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES

• Students will be able to complete the memorization of the whole Quran (30 Juz) effectively with the correct methodology.

• Students who are equipped with wide exposure to the Quranic sciences and the 7 Qiraat, thereby enabling them to apply their knowledge in real-life contexts and in careers specifically related to such fields.

• Students who can capably utilize their acquired skills in the Quranic sciences and the recitation of the 7 Qiraat in a community, guided by the Quran as a primary reference.

• 3 years / 6 semesters

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To qualify for the Programme, applicants must have passed the GCE ‘O’ Level examination with minimum of 3 credits or any other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government.

• Knowledge of Arabic Language is not compulsory but will be an advantage.

• Applicants with other academic qualifications and/or experience may be considered for admission on a case by case basis, while those with 2 ‘O’ Level credits may be offered conditional admission.

• Shortlisted applicants will be required to sit for an Entrance Test and an interview. The test will assess an applicant’s level of proficiency in Quran Memorization (oral), Tajwid (written) and Arabic Language (written).

LECTURERS

Our team of experienced full-time and part-time local lecturers possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Studies, specialising in Tahfiz wal Qiraat, Arabic Language, Islamic Theology or Islamic Jurispudence.

ACCREDITATION

This Diploma in Tahfiz wal Qiraat has successfully achieved accreditation by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (Reference No: A10187), a statutory body that accredits and accords recognition to post-secondary or tertiary academic Programmes in Malaysian educational institutions.

Graduates of this Diploma Programme will be able to pursue studies in many universities, including:
